1. DESIRE
I disagree with Hill’s assertion that the key to success is to define a goal and pour all of your energy and effort into achieving it. While having a goal is important, success often requires a combination of hard work, dedication, and luck. It may take many years to be successful, but it is not always the case that if you hold onto your desire, you will eventually attain what you seek.
Wishing for money will not get you far in life. In fact, it is only through setting a goal, creating a plan, and working hard that you can truly become wealthy. Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich” provides a six-step plan to help people achieve this goal, but it is important to remember that success is not guaranteed. It is only through dedication and hard work that you can truly reach your goals.
2. FAITH
Faith is a state of mind that must be cultivated through repetition and practice. By repeating affirmations and instructions, the subconscious mind is trained to think in a certain way, creating a state of faith. The process of auto-suggestion is used to repeat these thoughts, allowing them to become a continuous loop of thought in the subconscious mind. With enough practice, this state of faith can be achieved.
The greatest factor holding us back from success is often a lack of self-confidence. To increase our self-confidence, Napoleon Hill suggests a five-fold Think and Grow Rich affirmation exercise. This exercise involves repeating affirmations in writing and then learning them by memory. Through this exercise, we can learn to be more confident in our abilities and take the necessary steps to reach our goals.
3. AUTOSUGGESTION
Auto-suggestion, or self-suggestion, is a powerful tool that can be used to bridge the gap between the conscious and the subconscious mind. However, simply reading words aloud will not be enough to make an impact. It is important to truly believe in the words that are being said in order for auto-suggestion to be effective. It is also important to repeat the words often enough to really let them sink in and become part of the subconscious mind.
Therefore, Hill recommends adding the following to the six steps previously laid out in the chapter on desire: developing a definite plan, setting a definite date for its accomplishment, creating a definite purpose, and writing out a clear statement of the amount of money desired. He also suggests creating a mastermind group to help support and motivate the individual in achieving their goals. Finally, Hill recommends taking action and persisting until the goal is achieved. By following these steps, Hill believes that anyone can achieve their desired goals and gain success.
4. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
There are two types of knowledge: specialized and general. General knowledge, while important in many areas of life, is of little use when attempting to accumulate wealth. Specialized knowledge, on the other hand, is essential when it comes to financial success. It is important to understand the different types of knowledge and how they can be used to achieve one’s goals.
If the amount of knowledge required to reach a certain goal is too much for an individual to handle, Hill recommends creating a “Master Mind” group. This group should consist of individuals who have the knowledge that is needed and who can be managed to help the individual reach their goal. By having a Master Mind group, the individual can gain the knowledge and support they need to reach their goal.
5. IMAGINATION
Imagination is a powerful tool that can be used to create and form plans. The only limitation to the potential of imagination is the effort put into developing it. According to Hill, there are two types of imagination: synthetic and creative. Synthetic imagination is the ability to combine existing ideas to create something new, while creative imagination is the ability to come up with original ideas. With imagination, the possibilities are endless.
6. ORGANIZED PLANNING
To put your plan into action, Hill recommends following the four steps outlined in his book Think and Grow Rich. The first step is to have a clear and definite goal. This goal should be specific and measurable and should be written down and kept in a place where it can be seen every day. The second step is to develop a plan of action to achieve the goal. This plan should be broken down into smaller steps that can be taken to reach the goal. The third step is to have faith in yourself and your plan. Believe that you can achieve your goal and have the confidence to take the necessary steps to make it happen. The fourth and final step is to take action. Take consistent action towards achieving your goal and don’t give up, no matter how difficult it may seem. With these four steps, you can put your plan into action and achieve success.
7. DECISION
Hill States that being easily persuadable means that someone lacks the desire to reach their goals. He encourages people to trust themselves and to only get information from trusted sources. He further suggests that those who make decisions quickly are the ones who know what they want and how to get it.
8. PERSISTENCE
Hill puts forward an eight-stage Think and Grow Rich action plan to cultivate persistence. The plan starts with the individual having a definite purpose and a burning desire to achieve it. This is followed by the creation of a definite plan and a decision to take action. The individual must then cultivate a positive mental attitude and faith in their ability to succeed. The next step is to develop a mastermind alliance with like-minded people who can provide support and advice. The individual must then take action, persistently and persistently, in the face of any obstacles. The seventh step is to develop a habit of personal budgeting and financial planning. Finally, the individual must cultivate an attitude of gratitude for what they have achieved and for the help they have received along the way. By following this action plan, individuals can cultivate the essential trait of persistence that is necessary for success.
9. POWER OF MASTER MIND
According to Hill, in order to accumulate money, one must have power. Without power, plans cannot be put into action. He states there are three ways of accumulating power: the power of knowledge, the power of association, and the power of organized planning. The power of knowledge is obtained through education, research, and study. The power of association is gained through networking and forming relationships with people who have the same goals and ambitions. Finally, the power of organized planning involves setting goals, creating a plan of action, and having the discipline to follow through with it. All three of these powers are essential for accumulating money.
10. SEX TRANSMUTATION
Napoleon Hill emphasizes that he is not suggesting that people should repress their sexual drive, but rather that it should be given other outlets to benefit the mind, body, and soul. He believes that when the sexual drive is transmuted, it can lead to an incredible level of creativity. Hill refers to this creativity as humankind’s sixth sense.
11. THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
The subconscious is more receptive to thoughts that come accompanied by emotion, according to Hill. He states that only thoughts that are emotionally charged have the power to translate into action. Therefore, it is important to understand what constitutes a negative or positive emotion in order to make the most of this phenomenon.
12. THE BRAIN
Thomas Hill firmly believed that the human brain was capable of picking up the thought vibrations of other brains. He proposed that it was only thoughts that had been “stepped up” to an extremely high rate of vibration that could be transmitted between minds. Hill’s theory was based on the idea that all thoughts have a frequency, and that the higher the frequency, the more likely they are to be picked up by another mind.
13. THE SIXTH SENSE
Napoleon Hill believed that there was an Infinite Intelligence that could be accessed when the subconscious was vibrating at a high, positive frequency. He believed that this Infinite Intelligence was the source of all knowledge and could be tapped into to help individuals achieve their goals and dreams. Hill believed that by focusing on positive thoughts and vibrations, individuals could access this Infinite Intelligence and use it to their advantage.
